Within Tabriz production, Alabaf has specialised in large-format medallion rugs — classical pieces from roughly 300 × 200 cm and well above, ideal for spacious living and reception rooms. The workshop adheres strictly to the classical Tabriz school: a central medallion, four corner spandrels, and an elaborately worked floral main border.
Alabaf rugs are predominantly knotted from cork wool on a cotton warp, with 50 to 60 RajRajMaßeinheit für die Knotenfeinheit bei Täbriz-Teppichen. Individual pieces occasionally reach higher Raj values with silk accents.
The colours are traditional: indigoIndigoPflanzlicher Farbstoff aus der Indigopflanze, der tiefe Blautöne erzeugt. Einer der wichtigsten Naturfarbstoffe orientalischer Teppiche.Read in glossary → blue, deep red, ivory, and gold accents. Alabaf produces in a more classical than experimental vein.
Alabaf pieces are a sound address in the German and European trade for large-format Persian rugs. They offer authentic Tabriz quality at moderate prices compared with the finest silk-Tabriz pieces.
