Privacy Notice

1. Controller

The controller within the meaning of the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the operator of Morgenland Rugs. Full contact details, managing director, and commercial-register entry are listed in the imprint of this website.

2. Nature of this website

Rug Wiki is an editorial online reference work on oriental rugs. The website provides reading content only — there are no user accounts, no order function, no comment or contact forms, and no newsletter. It deliberately omits tracking, analytics tools, advertising cookies, social-media plug-ins, external fonts, and third-party scripts.

3. Hosting

The website is hosted on a virtual private server (VPS) administered by the controller. The processor is:

A data processing agreement (DPA) under Art. 28 GDPR is in place with the hosting provider.

4. Access data

When the website is accessed, the web server processes technically necessary connection data:

  • IP address of the requesting device
  • date and time of access
  • requested URL
  • HTTP status code and amount of data transferred
  • user agent (browser and operating-system identifier)
  • referrer (previously visited page, if transmitted)

This processing is necessary in order to deliver the content and ensure stable, secure operation of the server. The legal basis is Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR (legitimate interest). This data is not evaluated for analytics or profiling purposes. Server logs are automatically deleted after a maximum of seven days.

5. Cookies and similar technologies

This website does not set cookies. No information is stored on or read from users’ devices that would require consent under Section 25 TDDDG (the German Telecommunications and Telemedia Data Protection Act, which implements the ePrivacy Directive). For this reason no cookie banner is displayed.

6. Fonts

All fonts used on the website are served locally from our own server (via next/font). No connection is made to Google Fonts, Adobe Fonts, or any other external font service.

7. Interactive tools (quiz, comparison, search)

The style quiz, comparison, and search functions run server-side without persistent storage of inputs. Quiz answers, search terms, and comparison selections are not logged, stored, or analysed.

8. External links

The website contains links to external services, in particular to the Morgenland Rugs online shop (morgenland-rugs.com) and to social media profiles on Instagram, Facebook, Pinterest, and X. These links are pure HTML references; no third-party content is loaded and no data is transmitted to those parties when Rug Wiki is accessed. Only when a user clicks an external link do they reach the respective third-party service, whose privacy terms then apply.

9. Search-engine indexing

This website may be made publicly accessible by search-engine crawlers (e.g. Googlebot, Bingbot). Crawlers access the website like any other visitor; their requests are handled under the same principles described in section 4. The operator uses Google Search Console solely to manage indexing; no personal data of website visitors is transmitted to Google in this process.

10. Rights of data subjects

You have the following rights against the controller:

  • erasure (Art. 17 GDPR)
  • restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR)
